Every day thousands of people in sub-Saharan Africa die because of AIDS. Children affected by AIDS are often stigmatized and marginalized by society and their communities, abandoned and left to live on the streets or in underfunded orphanages severed from their extended family and their community.
We care for the AIDS-affected child because of Jesus’ command to care for the orphan and the powerful influence that a child’s faith can have on a whole community.
To accomplish this, we have devised a system that focuses on three core principles. First, our 28 Ministry CarePoints are the locations where our work takes place. The Ministry CarePoints are where over 1,300 children go to receive the support required to help them break the cycle of AIDS and poverty in their lives. Second, our Care and Compassion program helps us prevent more children from becoming orphans by caring for people who are already suffering from AIDS. Third, our Genesis Design program assists children to see that they are made in God’s image and have inherent dignity and value as human beings.
